Patent Consulting Services
What is a Patent?
A patent is a right or license granted by a sovereign country for the exclusive use of an invention that is useful, novel, and non-obvious. Patents allow countries to encourage scientific innovation by providing a right for the innovator to use his invention exclusively or to license it, ultimately profiting from the labor that was put into the inventing process
Patents in the Software Industry
Patents are relevant for our industry because software can also be patented since patent classifications derive from the IPC, and it falls under class G06 (specifically subgroup G06F9/40).
Bitsapphire’s Patent Consulting Services
Bitsapphire can not file a patent for you, but we can help your company or startup prepare to file a blockchain or crypto related patent. We only provide assistance for blockchain and crypto industries. If the application process has already begun, regardless of what stage, we can work with you as long as your idea is patentable.
Initial Process
First, we will schedule an initial skype call to discuss your patent idea. During the call, we will determine if your patent is of interest, as well as if it should be a provisional patent or a full patent. Patent applications specific to individual countries will also be determined.
We will ensure that you will have access to a patent lawyer. While we will write the technical information, a patent lawyer should edit and potentially rewrite the legal documents to fit the local patent laws and regulations.
During initial discussions, we can also assist in identifying patentable subject matter. If a client has several ideas, we can help him or her figure out what is truly an ‘invention’ and what needs to be further expanded so that it can become an invention.
Afterwards, we will begin writing the technical patent application documents. During this stage, we can use Git (Git Book, or a private git server), google docs, or any other platform that is suitable for the client and allows for easy communication.
Bitsapphire Research
In terms of researching ideas, we will consult on the topic and utilize our experience in this subject matter. However, we do not perform in-depth research with regards to the commercialization of that potentially patentable idea.
So, we can provide feedback, brainstorm more ideas, and refer you to someone else who can further discuss and evaluate your ideas, but we do not perform the actual research.
Final Process
Once our work with a client is done, the legal documents will be sent to the patent lawyer. The lawyer will review the documents, and if he has questions, he can easily contact us. Once the patent lawyer is satisfied with the document, he can submit a formal application to the relevant patent office.
